9 Prayers for a Safe Return Home (Bible verses to help too!)

Most places will have a list of prayers but I think what makes my prayers better is because I use scripture and God's word as the foundation for my prayers. I hope this blog helps you out!

Psalm 28:7 - Prayer to ask for strength

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: Therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

Father God, I trust you to bring me home safely after each departure to wherever I arrive. My home is my safety net, yet I continue to leave each day on the strength of your protection.

You shield me from any evil forces attempting to kill or destroy me. Your perfect joy fills me to never know earth's shadows approaching me.

graciously thank you for the blessings of arriving home each time. It's an immense blessing at hand that I often overlook and undervalue.

My heart rejoices for all that you undeservingly do for me. My heart trusts you for all my days ahead.

You are my everlasting light as I work in becoming a good shepherd for you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Luke 4:10 - Prayer in reassurance His angels will protect you

'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. '

Heavenly Father, you command your angels to watch over me. I am blessed with a Father who protects me and sends out his highest command to guard my being.

In a world filled with tragic losses, I am comforted by your words acknowledging my security of protection.

My firm hope is in Jesus' land becoming a saving grace for me. I have encountered many times leaving my home and the world weighing heavy on its wickedness.

You are the only reason I have remained safe and able to come home to my loved ones. Thank you for keeping me guarded, even when I was unaware of your protection.

Fill me with your holy family to know each member as you have written. I am blessed by the highest. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Proverbs 22:3 - Prayers for protection

A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: But the simple pass on, and are punished.

Dear God, only you know the dangers that the roads face. You are overcast secondly, and my truck driver husband is out there hourly.

He approaches risk while your angels remain encamped around his eighteen-wheeler. He continues praying daily to return home to me and the kids.

Thank you, Father, for bringing my husband home each day after long hours of travel.

He cannot avoid danger and is forced to head toward his fellow drivers on the road

Please continue to have him covered by your promise of security. In Jesus' name. Amen.

John 17:15 - Prayer to overcome road-rage

My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.

Lord Jesus, return my brother home safely from an out-of-town work trip. He faces many evil ones that have outcasted road rage.

The risks that come with other outbursts behind the wheel are scary. I rebuke these encounters and ask that you bring peace and comfort among those who feel out of control from their agitated flesh.

I do not ask that you take anyone out of this world but pour your patience and sanity among us all. May each driver get home safely to their families and every person tame their anger.

In a world with enough hazards, we need your love to overpower our sinful flesh to drive recklessly, which causes loss for so many others. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Mark 1:35 - Prayer for clear sight on the road

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Almighty God, my husband rises early in the morning. He leaves our home before my eyes attempt to see the slightest crack of daylight.

When arriving at each stop, I ask that you have your hand on his heart and at the wheel of his truck. May he hear your voice as he speaks out his short morning prayers for the day?

He remains alone in the truck, and you will fill it with your holy spirit. Let him be touched in the early morning and moved until his day's work ends. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Psalm 121:7-8 - Prayer to protect from accidents

The Lord will keep you from all harm—     he will watch over your life;  the Lord will watch over your coming and going     both now and forevermore.

Dear Lord, I lift my family to you as they have just left for a road trip. I ask that you protect their car from any accidents or unsafe drivers on the road.

May they encounter good weather their entire trip and safe travels to and from each destination. Let Jesus' arm touch the vehicle they are traveling into and from each destination. You will keep them from evil and any harm.

Bless them with the comfort of feeling you this entire trip and the beauty of your creation that you will showcase. Allow them the gift of joy and peace to live in this moment alongside you. May they return home safely. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Deuteronomy 31:8 - Prayer to look out for us

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Father God, you go before me at this time before we head out for our next adventure. It's always a bittersweet moment leaving the comfort of my home to explore the creation of your world.

I am overly excited, yet fear has crept in slightly while packing the car. Jesus' love covers me and gives me thy blessing of making it home.

I know you will never leave me or forsake me. My fears are not developing in real time, but distractions meant to steal my joy.

My eyes remain on you to ease my thoughts and concerns about this trip. My trust is in you to bring us safely to our vacation spot. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Psalm 16:1 - Prayer to stop worrying

Keep me safe, my God,     for in you I take refuge.

Lord Jesus, I rebuke the spirit of anxiety over me. It sneaks into my day, causing my heart to race and my mind to be clouded by fears.

A heavy nature is on me that I am losing to shake off. I need you desperately to take cover over me and cast this evil essence away.

Thy protection covers me in gold accents that hang over my neck reminding me of the powerful saint you sent down for me. I declare your promises over me at this moment. I am safe and protected by your holy spirit.

I take refuge under your shield of wings. No evil force can come against me when standing by my Father. The welfare of my soul is safe from the wicked forces I cannot see. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Psalm 23:4 - Prayer to not be afraid

Even though I walk     through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,     for you are with me; your rod and your staff,     they comfort me.

Dear God, I show no fear when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. You are right about me fighting demons that I cannot see.

Your authority comforts me that everything under the sun fears you. My father's will is my safety. You are always with me, even when I can't see it.

Your staff hooks me to follow your direction for shelter. I am relieved to serve a God who can cast away anything forming against me by the will of God.

May I always follow where you lead me away from captivity? My darkest days have no hold over me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

These prayer cards are to ease your mind for yourself and your loved ones as each departure arrives.

Returning home safely is an overlooked blessing that we assume will always be owed to us. God is in control of our days and continues to bless us with each drive we take to and from our destinations.

Let God steer us closer as we reach out to him for covering and protection. May we always thank God every time we return home to our families.

A once overseen blessing covered in disguise now shows us the beauty behind it all. Thank you, Jesus, for it all.
